The Ties That LooseIn May 1995, Dani Robicheau Kirkland, a civilian nurse practitioner at Eglin Air Force base, is clearing out her mother’s house in Houma, Louisiana for an estate sale. While searching the attic, Dani finds a box containing her father’s Vietnam War POW bracelet, a photo album she has never seen, and letters her mother had written to him after his helicopter went down and he’d been declared missing in action. As Dani looks through them, she discovers her alcoholic and abusive mother was a woman who once clung to faith, desperately trusting God for her husband’s safe return.
Dani’s husband, Chris, an Air Force captain and F15 instructor pilot grew up on stories of his grandfather’s World War II exploits, his father’s failed dreams of flying in his own cockpit, and the expectation Chris’s military career would outshine them both. As he wrestles with the increasing weight of family legacy, Chris, is tasked with a clandestine and potentially internationally explosive mission: flying an unsanctioned diplomat into Bosnia to broker peace talks while the U.S. still remains officially neutral in the war. But when the plane goes down due to a bird strike, Chris is trapped behind enemy lines with little hope of rescue.
Like her mother, Dani clings to hope and a certainty that Chris remains alive despite the Air Force’s doubts. As she searches for a way to bring him home and Chris strives to stay alive, they each battle their family histories. Will Dani repeat her mother’s choices, diving into the bottle to cope with Chris’s disappearance? Will Chris continue struggling to please his earthly father instead of following his own desires? As the stakes rise, each will need to discover their strongest tie is to the only One who can loose them onto their God-ordained paths.
- Felicia Ferguson’s "When Secrets Come Calling" is every bit as good as her award-winning debut novel, “The Choices She Made.” This is the kind of story you can’t put down—the tug of the truth will keep you wondering until the last page. A testimony to being truthful and doing the right thing, When Secrets Come Calling is a love story wrapped up in a tough crime case. As sweet as an Alabama summer and as gut-wrenching as a coastal hurricane, this one is a keeper. –Lenora Worth (USA Today bestselling author of Disappearance in Pinecraft)When Secrets Come Calling

- “What I love is these characters end up turning to God in those desperate moments of trying to figure out which direction to go … how to handle the secret that came up, or trying to deal with the past trauma ... It is wrestling through the issues that we’re actually wrestling through in every day life.”–Catherine Segars, Christian Parent/Crazy World podcastWhen Secrets Come Calling

- There is something to be said for the tenacity of an up and coming author. Felicia Ferguson has that tenacity in her book, The Choices She Made. As we follow Madeline through her story we find well-written plots, beautiful description, and yummy adventure. Ferguson takes the reader on a well-penned story and when it ends, you wish it hadn't. I completely loved it. Satisfying. Enjoyable. A must read. Cindy Sproles, bestselling, award winning author of What Momma Left BehindThe Choices She Made
- We all have to make difficult choices in life, and in Felicia Ferguson’s debut novel The Choices She Made, Madeline Williams goes from an innocent teenager to a ruined girl who’s afraid of the powerful family of the boy who attacked her. But her widowed father stands by her, no matter what she decides, and this unconditional love helps her to make the hardest decision ever. After giving up the boy she loved and the life she’d planned, Madeline, now a single mom, has a teenaged daughter who wants answers. When they return to Blue Springs, Texas, for the summer, the past comes back to haunt Madeline. The very boy who assaulted her, now a divorced man, has to answer to charges brought by several other women. Madeline tells her daughter the truth, and again has to make a difficult decision. Will she step forward and share her secret with the world, or will she keep quiet to protect the child she loves? A touching story that mirrors today’s headlines and focuses on the agony of women having to deal with horrible memories and tough decisions. It moved me more than I can ever say. - Nothing is sugar-coated here. And everything is complicated. There are no easy choices, even for Christians. Decisions are made only after much wrestling. And still, there are far-reaching consequences whichever way it goes.Laura DeNooyer, Standout Stories blogThe Choices She Made

- This book really surprised me. Wow. I cried while reading in several places as it does deal with some difficult subjects but it is filled with biblical truths and scriptures. God did not give us a spirit of fear. He has a plan for us. The Lord works everything out for our good. Loved how much faith was in this story and how impactful it was for me.Amanda, Book Lover Amanda blogThe Choices She Made
- "Ferguson draws the reader in with her compelling and artfully woven story, including the descriptions of the small town where the women reside. But entertainment isn't the only or even the biggest positive to come from this book. Bridges emphasizes the value of a strong support system of Christian friends and illustrates possible faith-based approaches to utilize in the reader's life."Alice H. Murray, via GoodreadsBridges
- "The story of the friendship of 4 good friends in the Deep South is mesmerizing! I couldn’t put either of the books in her series down! The stories weave the story of each woman and their families through both the books. You can’t help falling in love with the women and their families. Felicia’s faith shines through both books."Amazon reviewerBridges
