I recently discovered Flannery O’Connor’s Prayer Journal and while I’m not a fan of her writing (it’s a bit too “out there” for me), I have found common ground with her as a writer. In the pages of her journal, she searches for God’s direction, pleading at times, so desperate for his path for her life and for his inspiration in her work. That heart cry is my own.
As Christians, we are called to be Kingdom-minded with God as our first and main priority. But what does “kingdom-minded” actually look like? Is it clothing the naked, feeding the hungry, and serving the widowed and poor? Yes, it is all that and more. It is loving our neighbors as ourselves. Reserving vengeance and judgment for the only One best suited for those roles. And it is sharing the Good News no matter the outcome.
Are you “kingdom-minded”? What does that look like to you?
