Are you like me and would love to know what God’s will is for your life? Turns out it’s not whether you accomplish this dream, drive that car, or even hold a particular position in ministry. Paul says in Romans 12:2 that the way to knowing God’s good, pleasing, and perfect will is to transform ourselves and be more like Christ.
You might be thinking, that’s all well and good, but Jesus was the son of God, born sinless. We’re adopted by God, but certainly not sinless. Yes, our transformation will be challenging, but it is God’s will for us so it can be done. It will just take active work on our part. Dallas Willard in Renovation of the Heart gives us a roadmap for our transformation based on teachings from Jesus and the apostles.
Over the next few weeks, we’ll unpack each step on the map to transformation. Each will require dedication and a willing spirit and mind, and also giving yourself grace because as Rome wasn’t built in a day, neither can a sinful man or woman be transformed in a day. It is, however, well worth the effort so you can live out God’s perfect will and experience the abundant life Jesus taught.
